New Vista Farm is a small, (5 stall) semi-private horse facility located in the NE Lexington area, recently opened to accept boarders. We cater to those who desire professional care for their horse(s) in a friendly, relaxed environment. It is our goal to provide you and your horses with top quality services at a reasonable rate to enhance your equestrian experience. Our farm offers the amenities our customers often wish they had in their own facility without the cost, hassle and time investment of providing the daily maintenance and upkeep required. Our feed program is structured to meet the nutritional requirements of each horse and tailored to achieve and maintain their appropriate weight and condition based on age and other factors. Amenities include heated restroom area with shower, indoor wash rack with hot/cold water, outdoor wash rack, well organized tack room, blanket racks on each stall, and more. Stalls are approximately 12x12 and all have exterior windows. Our outdoor arena is approximately 150’ x 198’ with separate areas for dressage and jumping. The footing is fabulous and well maintained. 4-rail wood fencing enclose most of our paddocks. We strive to maintain our facility in a manner that is both safe and enjoyable for owners and guests as well as their horses. If you have special requirements or needs, let us know. We’ll be happy to accommodate you if possible.
Unless requested otherwise or the weather is not conducive, all horses are turned out 24/7 and brought in twice daily for feeding. When grazing is insufficient (i.e. during the winter months) quality alfalfa/grass hay rolls are made available in the paddocks for the horses to have free choice access. While they’re in, I adjust blankets and give them a general check over to ensure they are healthy and haven’t developed an issue that might require additional care (i.e. lost shoe, etc.).
I am happy to include your horse in our farrier program, routine vet and dental care, and will handle de-worming for you. If your horse is on our schedule, there is no additional charge to hold for farrier, vet or dentist. Or, you are welcome to use your own service provider and make your own arrangements.
For those who enjoy participating in off-site equestrian activities, we are conveniently located with easy proximity to Hisle Equestrian Park (5 minutes), Masterson Station (20 minutes) and the Kentucky Horse Park (15 minutes).
ABOUT ME: I own and manage New Vista Farm and live on the property. I grew up on my parents horse farm in Washington State and began riding at the age of 7. I competed as a Junior in Hunt Seat and Dressage competitions and later expanded my show career to include Show Jumping. I opened my first boarding and training operation in 1987 in Memphis, TN and grew that into one of the largest premier boarding and training facilities in the area. As a trainer, I specialized in rehabilitating problem horses as well as bringing along green horses to compete successfully in their respective discipline. As a trainer and instructor, I’ve had considerable success in bringing horses and riders to compete at the top levels of their sport. After moving to Kentucky in 2012, I decided to down-size my horse operation in order to have time to ride and enjoy my personal horses. But, I discovered I missed sharing the barn atmosphere with other like-minded people so decided I would accept a few boarders.
